SEO Blog Posts That Keep Readers

If you’re a blogger, you know how important it is to have engaging content that keeps readers coming back for more. But what exactly makes a blog post interesting? In this blog post, we’ll be discussing the five types of engaging SEO blog posts that are sure to keep your readers hooked.

The Introduction is What Makes a Blog Post Engaging

There’s nothing worse than reading a blog post full of lifeless content. You know the kind – where it feels like the author is just phoning it in, regurgitating information without any real passion or personality. Engagement comes from two places – interesting, well-written content and engaging delivery. If you can write SEO posts that are informative and engaging, you’ll keep your readers coming back for more. Here are a few tips on doing just that: Number one rule: Write like you’re talking to a friend.

Remember, you aren’t writing a term paper, so you don’t need to be overly formal. Be honest and write with personality (don’t write like you’re texting your BFF… we know you are, but we don’t want to see it). Say what you mean – and only what you mean. Your writing should be clear and concise. You should be able to say what you want to say in a sentence or two. Engage your reader. Don’t use complex language or jargon that only other SEO experts will understand. Be descriptive with your wording and avoid passive voice as much as possible. A quick Google search for “SEO content.”

SEO Blog Posts

You want to create blog posts that people will want to read and share. You certainly don’t want to leave it to chance that people will find your content valuable and exciting. You can do this in many ways, but using the right keywords is a big piece of the puzzle. In other words, don’t be boring. Your content should grab your readers’ attention by engaging them in a discussion, telling a story, or painting a picture.

Don’t use big words and rely on flowery language. Your content should be clear and simple to understand but casual, like talking to a friend. Write like you’re talking to a friend. In other words, don’t be boring. People love conversations; they love to read a blog post that feels like they’re getting to know the author. If you write like you’re lecturing the reader, they will tune out.

Don’t be afraid to exaggerate your writing style a bit – get a little silly. You’re in a friendly conversation with your readers, and you should be able to see them laughing. Always remember to mention the reader. Prove to them that you understand their pain. If you wouldn’t tell your friend something, don’t tell it to your readers. Be considerate of your readers’ time and energy.

  • No one likes to read a post that feels like it was written to ‘get from A to Z’ by any means necessary. Be specific. Talk about the particular lessons you’ve learned.
  • Be transparent.
  • Be vulnerable.
  • Be yourself. If you have a unique voice, use it.
  • Don’t try to write like someone else.

The 5 Types of Engaging SEO Blog Posts

Blog posts will help keep your readers hooked:

1. Lists – People love lists! Top 10 lists, how-to lists, and even listicles (a cross between a list and an article) are popular ways to engage your audience. Make sure your list is packed with exciting information relevant to your niche.

2. Interviews – Interviewing a guest blogger or someone who is an expert in their field will attract traffic to your blog. Just make sure the interview is enjoyable and the information presented is engaging and helpful to your readers. As popular search engine algorithms change and evolve, outbound marketing strategies become more effective. Using brave conversations – or bold statements that are usually controversial – is a great way to increase the likelihood of being found in search results.

3. Infographics – Infographics are great because they are like pictures that include information. Infographics make it easy for readers to quickly get the info they need and leave as soon as they arrive. Inspirational or motivational blog posts are great ways to inspire your audience to follow your path or make their path. Anecdotes – Stories, especially those that feature your own experiences, are fantastic ways to keep readers interested. Think about how you can tell a story that involves your product or perhaps a customer’s experience with your product.

4. Interviews – Borrowing from the world of journalism, this type of post asks your interviewee questions that your readers want to be answered. It’s similar to a Q&A. You can choose to have the interviewee write the article or write it yourself. This is a great way to learn about trending topics in your industry.

5. Cheatsheets- allow readers to quickly access vital information about a topic, saving them time and allowing for quick updates if guidelines change. Case studies are terrific blog posts because they show readers how a person or business successfully used your product or service. For instance, maybe your company offers search engine optimization services. If you write a blog post about a particular client, you may get clients calling you or visiting your website.

  • Use 1–2 long-tail keywords.
  • Use keywords strategically throughout the blog post.
  • Optimize for mobile devices.
  • Optimize the meta description.
  • Include image alt text.
  • Limit topic tags.
  • Include user-friendly URL structures.
  • Link to related blog posts.

That’s why it’s essential to do some research before you start writing. Once you know what kinds of posts are popular with your reader base, you can start creating engaging content to keep them coming back for more.

Tips to Improve Your SEO Blog Post Content

SEO posts that will make readers come back for more, follow these tips: choose interesting topics, do your keyword research, and keep your content fresh. Let’s take a closer look at each of these points. First, you need to choose interesting and relevant topics for your niche or industry. If you’re unsure what people would find interesting, try looking at some popular blogs in your field and seeing what posts get the most traffic or social media shares.

Bloggers love to share their opinions, especially if they are funny or controversial. Blogs thrive on controversy and gossip, so you know what you’re writing about will get your readers buzzing. A great example of this is the latest iPhone 6 leaks. While these are interesting, they’re also controversial because they show Apple badly.

writing process

If you’re stuck, Google your desired keyword and look at the suggestions. Those are topics people are searching for, so that’s an excellent place to start. While you’re at it, take a look at some of the best blogs in your field using the same process. You can also use the Moz Keyword Explorer tool to determine the popularity of specific keywords in your niche.

You could also try researching BuzzSumo, Ahrefs Content Explorer, Google Trends, or other tools to see what kinds of content have been popular in the past. One tip here is to try to avoid the apparent topics. For example, if you’re in the weight loss industry, don’t just post about weight loss recipes or exercises. Instead, try to develop something unique, such as a list of weight loss secrets from your most successful clients. If a topic is scorching right now, and everybody is writing about it, it’s an excellent place to start.

Another good test is to see if your mom uses Facebook. If she likes to share articles on Facebook, you’re on the right track. If she only shares cat videos, you need to start looking at other topics. One warning here: you don’t want to be writing about the same things that everybody else is writing about.

For example, a search for “blog content” returned the following results in Google. Skimming these results, it appears that “how to write blog content” and “writing blog content” could be interesting for writers and bloggers. Now, let’s apply the reverse process to determine relevant keywords.

Reverse Keyword Research

You have a list of relevant keywords, but you’re unsure which topic to write about. You’re lost. How to proceed? Start by brainstorming ideas for content. Start by writing down the answers to the following questions:

What could I cover?

What would people want to read about?

What topics are already covered – and which can I do better? We can see that related searches for “how to write blog content” and “writing blog content” include:

blog content topics

blog content ideas

how to blog

blog writing tips

So, we’ve established a few relevant keyword suggestions: The next step is to perform a Jaaxy search for each of these keywords and evaluate the results.

Assign Scores to Each Keyword

To determine which keywords are relevant to your business and your audience, you need to assign a score to each keyword (based on your best judgment) that reflects how likely people who search for this keyword will be interested in your content.

I will assign an importance score for each keyword I think will be relevant to my site in this example. From the first result, “how to write blog content,” – it appears that “blog” and “content” could be good keywords to target. What are the most relevant keywords to your target audience?

The next step is to use Jaaxy Keyword Planner to find the search volume of your relevant keywords. Jaaxy Keyword Planner is one of the best tools in the SEO kit. It will provide all the related keywords and search books based on your seed keyword.

Reverse Your Search

Once you have a list of relevant search phrases, it’s time to reverse them. For example, if one of your search phrases is “how to write blog content,” you can flip it like this:

“blog content” + “how to write”

You’re essentially turning your negative space into a positive search phrase when you reverse your keyword search phrase. So what happens when you type the above search phrase into Google? Suddenly, we’ve got over 2.8 million search results!

That’s a lot of content to sift through, but that’s not the real problem. The real problem is that these search results aren’t relevant to what we’re looking for. Now, you can use this search phrase in Google or any other search engine to see the top results.

And if you’re interested in one of those results, you can use the “View Source” feature on Google to look at how the companies target the keyword phrase.

This way, you can see how others approach the search phrase, and it can give you inspiration for how to approach your content. By adding the “+” in front of the search phrase with your target keyword, you’re telling Google you have an interest in more than just that one phrase.

Reverse your keywords in a spreadsheet to make it easier to add negative keywords to campaign high-performing keywords. Using this method, you can discover new search phrases that you may not have found otherwise.

For example, you’re more likely to discover a keyword like “how to blog” than “blogging” because the former is more commonly used when people talk about how to blog than an exact keyword phrase. Today, you can find blog content all over the place, but it’s easy to distinguish the quality stuff from the crummy stuff.

How so? Because the quality blog posts out there are helping people learn about blogging. You can find blog post topics in forums, blog comments, and blog post titles.
